UNION GAP, WASH. (Oct. 19, 4:25 p.m. ET) — Paragon Films Inc. will open a plant in Union Gap and should begin production at the new facility by June 2013.

The facility will initially employ 15 to 20 people, but will ultimately have approximately 50 employees, according to a news release.

Paragon, a stretch film extruder based in Broken Arrow, Okla., said it considered several West Coast locations before deciding on Union Gap.

The new plant will be the company’s third — Paragon currently operates facilities in Broken Arrow and Taylorsville, N.C.

Union Gap announced Paragon’s interest in the small Washington city last month. The company was considering an existing 100,000-square-foot plant on 8.5 acres, city officials said.

Paragon did not immediately return calls Oct. 19.

Paragon manufactures polyethylene roll and specialty films for the food packaging, industrial and agricultural markets. It had sales of of $145 million in 2011, according to a recent Plastics News film and sheet industry survey.
