Underwater pelletizer features improved ergonomics

Published: October 24, 2012 6:00 am ET

Automatik Plastics Machinery introduced a new generation of the compact Sphero 50 underwater pelletizing system, using components from sister company Maag.

A “plug-and-play” design and improved ergonomics allow quick startup. All components are mounted on a mobile frame. There is free access from all sides of the pelletizer, simplifying the cleaning of the machine and making changeovers.

The Sphero 50, the smallest in the Sphero series, can handle flow rates of up to 600 kilograms per hour (1,320 pounds).

The newly designed cutting head gives evenly spaced, high-quality pellets.

Maag Group is based in Zurich, Switzerland.

The U.S. operation, Maag Automatik Inc. is in Charlotte, N.C.
