MICKLETON, N.J. (Oct. 26, 1:15 p.m. ET) — The Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics Healthcare Markets group has added an ISO Class 7 clean room to its Mickleton plant to further expand its global fluoropolymer extrusion capabilities for the medical and biopharmaceutical markets.

The clean room features closed loop extrusion lines as well as x-ray measurement and inspection systems designed to make smaller and more complex extrusions and assemblies made from fluoropolymers and engineered plastics.

Craig Maki, marketing manager for fluoropolymers, said the expansion complements the company’s existing fluoropolymer capabilities in Neuss, Germany.

The Healthcare Markets group makes small diameter tubing, tapered tubing, single and multi-lumen PTFE tubing, FEP and PTFE heat shrink tubing, and ring marking. It is part of the Fluids Group of Saint Gobain Performance Plastics.
