WESTLAKE, OHIO (Oct. 31, 2:35 p.m. ET) — With something close to 8,500 resin-grade choices available in the medical arena, picking the right plastic becomes critical for medical-device makers, said Nexeo Solutions LLC’s Phil Juzwick during the Plastics in Medical Devices 2012 conference in Westlake.

Juzwick details the material selection process in this latest Experts Speak video.

Juzwick, development engineer for Nexeo, said material selection is key for medical-device producers. Choosing the right material should factor into part design, performance and manufacturing, he said.

Juzwick also said that material, design, performance and manufacturing information should be shared along the chain, from mold makers to processors.

Resin and chemical distributor Nexeo is based in The Woodlands, Texas.

The conference, hosted by Plastics News, was held June 12-13.
