FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (Oct. 31, 11:40 a.m. ET) — BASF Corp. said Progressive Foam Technologies Inc. will make siding insulation made of Neopor for the North American market.

Beach City, Ohio-based Progressive Foam teams with vinyl siding manufacturers to make foam-backed siding products.

Neopor is a polystyrene insulation that contains high-purity graphite particles that enhance efficiency, creating a greater insulating effect with the same amount of material.

BASF marketing manager Aaron Wood said Neopor has been in high demand in Europe for several years, and the Florham Park-based chemical company expects demand in North America to grow thanks to a new IECC 2012 Energy Code that requires contractors in most climate zones to install a thermal break between the sheathing and the siding in 2x4 construction.
