MINNEAPOLIS (Oct. 31, 11:40 a.m. ET) — Minneapolis injection molder Spectrum Plastics Group has added a new 240-ton Arburg multi-shot molding machine.
The machine’s L-configuration, combined with a rotary platen, will allow for both parting line injection and full robotics, according to the company.
Doug Johnson, general manager of Spectrum’s Minnesota division, said the company already has experience with multi-shot molding, including insert molding, lead frame over-molding, small part insert molding, and multiple durometer silicones and elastomers.
He called the new press “a natural enhancement to this already well-established host of capabilities,” in a news release.
Spectrum is majority owned by private equity firm Spell Capital Partners LLC.
