Fipa shows new end-of-arm tools

Published: November 7, 2012 6:00 am ET

At the Fakuma show in Germany, Fipa GmbH presented grippers for end-of-arm tooling.

Fipa has extended its portfolio of parallel and angular grippers, with new two-finger grippers. They can be used for handling tasks in electronics, automotive, food, medical or packaging. That includes removing injection molded products.

Both the parallel and the angular grippers can be equipped with sensors that signal whether the part has been gripped.

Fipa, of Ismaning, Germany, also showed customized grippers for handling inserts in plastic injection molded products. The user can choose between vacuum-and air-powered grippers.

Fipa grippers are used in areas such as automotive, pharmaceuticals and electronics.

Both vacuum- and air-powered versions are available.

Fipa also has added a series of miniature grippers and power grippers. Both units deliver a gripping force that is about 20 percent higher and have jaws that open wider than comparable components.

The Fipa miniature gripper weighs only 8 grams, but it can grip small, delicate sprues firmly delicately.

Fipa Inc. is based in Springfield, Ohio.
