Milacron expands line of Magna T presses

Published: November 7, 2012 6:00 am ET

Milacron LLC has expanded its line of Magna T Servo (MTs) injection presses to include machines with larger clamping forces, of 500 and 550 tons.

MTs presses achieve 40-60 percent more efficiency than a conventional hydraulic machine by coupling a variable-speed electric servomotor to drive a fixed gear pump. The servo system allows the pump to deliver oil on demand, as needed for each stage of the injection process.

“Our customers are realizing a one-year payback on the premium over the older hydraulic platform, which is accelerating the market conversion to servo technology,” said Brian Bish, Milacron’s global product manager.

The Cincinnati-based equipment maker also said a new generation of Allen-Bradley retrofit controls is available for old machines.
