Polyshot adds vacuum brazing technology

Polyshot Corp, a hot runner maker in Henrietta, N.Y., has introduced its vacuum brazing technology to mold makers for fusing of multi-component mold cores and cavity assemblies for conformal cooling.

Polyshot offers its vacuum brazing services in response to growing customer demand, President Doug Hepler said.

“Our unique technology has delivered great results for our hot runner business and it now gaining strong traction among moldmakers who seen an efficient and affordable method to create conformal cooling systems,” Hepler said.

More than half the business of fusion technology for conformal cooling has come from overseas customers, he said.

For conformal cooling, the company’s proprietary vacuum brazing technology uses a high-temperature vacuum furnace. Rough cores and cavities with machined cooling paths are fused together in a stack that is typically one to six layers.

In a mold, conformal cooling channels follow the shape of the cavity and core, reducing cooling time.

For hot runners, Polyshot’s fusion technology fuses together two or more steel plates to create internal flow paths.
