WESTLAKE, OHIO (Nov. 13, 1:15 p.m. ET) — Nordson Corp., which purchased flat-die maker Extrusion Dies Industries LLC earlier this year, has picked up the extrusion-related assets of Kodama Chemical Industry Co. Ltd., EDI’s longtime licensed distributor in Japan.

The new division, called Nordson EDI Japan, will handle new sales of new dies to extrusion processors, web converters and original equipment manufacturers in Japan and Taiwan, and carry out final manufacturing steps on new equipment to enhance die performance and accommodate the requirements of local customers.

Included will be the complete line of Nordson EDI flat dies, feedblocks and related equipment for film, sheet, extrusion coating and fluid coating. The division’s facility in Saitama, Japan, also will remanufacture dies.

Westlake-based Nordson announced the acquisition on Nov. 9. Terms were not disclosed.

Nordson has named Hidemaro Takehara, the head of Kodama’s sales team, to be general manager of Nordson EDI Japan. Sales and customer support staff have been relocated to a new office in Tokyo.

Nordson EDI is based in Chippewa Falls, Wis.
