CHICAGO (Nov. 13, 1:05 p.m. ET) — Bosch Packaging Technology Inc. has introduced a new horizontal flow wrapper form, fill seal machine targeted for pharmaceutical, meat, fresh produce and dairy applications, which the company says can achieve higher seal integrity, more airtight packages and provide longer product shelf life than when rotary cutting heads are used.

The Pack 301 ID inverted long dwell flow wrapping technology transports the food that is to be packaged on top of the film from the product former through the cutting head, minimizing jams and protecting package appearance.

The Pack 301 ID also has a moveable modular film backstand to optimize the flow of film and reduce waste, and a long dwell sealing system allows for longer sealing times of up to one second, the company said.

Bosch said the Pack 301D can be used for products that require modified atmosphere packaging or products that are difficult to seal with an upright flow wrapper.

Bosch also used the Pack Expo event in Chicago last month to introduce to the North American market its SurePouch roll-fed vertical form fill seal machine for stand-up flexible packs with spouts that are designed for liquid and viscous products.

It also unveiled for the North American market its KKX 3900 small footprint inspection unit for pharmaceutical capsule packaging ,and its cereal and candy bar packaging line that has a distribution system, a flow wrapper Sigpack HRM with a high performance splicer, and a top-loading unit, the Sigpack TTM.

Bosch Packaging Technology is based in Waiblingen, Germany.
