KANSAS CITY, MO. (Nov. 27, 12:30 p.m. ET) — Logoplaste SA is opening a new manufacturing plant in Kansas City.

The rigid packaging manufacturer is investing $31.5 million to start operations at a 200,000 square foot facility in the East Bottoms region of the city, according to the Kansas City Area Development Council.

The plant will manufacture plastic bottles to fulfill a contract with Procter & Gamble Co., said John Fougere, director of communications with the Missouri Department of Economic Development.

Logoplaste will create 80 new full-time, permanent jobs over the next 5 years, Fougere said.

The company will receive more than $1.65 million in tax credits and $92,5000 in recruitment assistance from the state, he said.

Logoplaste, based in Cascais, Portugal, has a North American headquarters in Plainfield, Ill. The company operates more than 350 machines and has 60 facilities in 18 countries.

The company makes rigid plastic packaging using injection molding, stretch blow molding and extrusion molding for a variety of markets including food and beverage, personal care, household care and oil and lubricants.
