CHARLOTTE, N.C. (Dec. 3, 10:40 a.m. ET) — Recycling and resource recovery firm ReCommunity has stepped up to the plate in an effort to educate consumers about recycling by developing what it says is a first-of-its-kind educational website to help explain and promote recycling.

“We wanted to take a proactive approach to engaging and educating” to the 36 communities the company serves in 13 states, says Jeff Fielkow, vice president of revenue and growth at Charlotte-based ReCommunity.

“We really believe virtual tours and interactive educational resources are the wave of the future. So we wanted to stay true to our community and education-focused mission, and build a turn-key recycling educational website,” he said.

The website, www.recommunity.com/recovery-revolution, includes a virtual, 360-degree visual tour of a MRF, teacher lesson plans, animated videos, educator resources, and an interactive site where people can see an overview of an entire MRF and click on each element to learn more about that step of the process.

“We are thrilled to bring the Recovery Revolution to our community partners and educators everywhere,” says Fielkow. “Creating state-of-the-art educational tools is a critical initial step in the process of improving recycling and enhancing all of its associated community benefits.”
