Arkema supply boost helps 460 grade

Published: December 5, 2012 6:00 am ET

Arkema Inc. is again making available Kynar 460, which has been in short supply because of strong demand for Kynar PVDFs in general.

Arkema has expanded its Changshu, China, capacity for Kynar PVDF, easing supply and allowing Arkema to ramp up Kynar 460 production at Calvert City, Ky. Kynar 460 has a low enough melting point to be processed on standard polyolefin extrusion equipment if the barrels are protected. Wire and cable and piping are among Kynar 460 applications benefiting from resistance to chemicals, radiation, abrasion, heat and creep.
