AURORA, OHIO (Dec. 7, 2 p.m. ET) — Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics Corp. of Aurora, Ohio, acquired Twin Bay Medical Inc. of Williamsburg, Mich., on Nov. 30. Terms were not disclosed.

Al Werth founded the business in 2000 and was the principal seller. Saint-Gobain retains the innovative Werth as a long-term consultant.

Twin Bay Medical and the Saint-Gobain operation have operated as partners for more than 10 years, said Robert Schwenker, business manager for the Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics healthcare markets. Twin Bay Medical has less than 100 employees.

Twin Bay Medical deals primarily with single-use components for biopharmaceutical fluid handling products. Proprietary BarbLock-brand flexible tube retainers feature a 360-degree radial crimp behind the barb. A BarbLock can replace a hose clamp or cable-tie and is useful in medical, industrial, pharmaceutical and automotive applications.

Twin Bay Medical offers computer-aided design and finite element analysis validation from Dassault Systèmes SolidWorks Corp., three-dimensional printing utilizing fused deposition modeling technology from Stratasys Inc., use of deionized water for ultrasonic cleaning processes and electric injection molding equipment from Arburg GmbH + Co. KG. Twin Bay has tooling design-build-test capabilities, a Class 10,000 assembly area and three clean room suites with classifications ranging from Class 100,000 to Class 1,000.

Parent firm Cie. de Saint-Gobain, a major building materials company, is based in the La Défense business district of the Paris metropolitan area.
