DETROIT (Dec. 7, 12 p.m. ET) — Members of the Detroit section of the Society of Plastics Engineers have again donated production time, equipment and money to mold, decorate and donate toys for the holiday season.

The 30,000 toys donated this year join more than 300,000 other toys donated by the SPE section since 2000. The toys will be distributed by the Michigan Association of United Ways and the Lions Club. This year’s donation consists of cars made in two colors, labeled with the SPE Plastivan logo, SPE said in a Dec. 4 announcement.

Chevron Phillips Chemical Co. of Sweeney, Texas, donated 12,000 pounds of plastic, American Plastic Toys Inc. of Walled Lake, Mich., donated a week’s worth of production time to mold and assemble the toys and apply the logos. Maple Press LLC of Troy, Mich., provided the stickers and E.L. Hollingsworth & Co. of Plymouth, Mich., is providing transportation for the project.

A ceremony for the toy delivery is set for Dec. 7 at American Plastic Toys.
