EASTLAND, TEXAS (Dec. 13, 12:50 p.m. ET) — HDI Plastics Inc. plans to construct a $4 million plastics recycling facility in Eastland in 2013, according to a report in the Abilene, Texas, Reporter-News.

The company signed an agreement with the Eastland Economic Development Corp. earlier this month for the 75,000-square-foot facility, Jerry Conner, executive director of the development corporation, told the newspaper. HDI, based in Minneapolis, collects and reprocesses plastic waste and then sells pellets to manufacturers.

“The facility will be expandable to 150,000 square feet over a period of five to seven years,” Conner told the newspaper Wednesday. “In Phase 1, they will have roughly 75 employees and when all is said and done the company will employ over 200 people.”

HDI is expected to start construction as soon as mid-2013.

“We have been working on this project for over a year and I believe we are now on the fast track,” Kenneth Brimmer, chief executive officer of HDI, told the Reporter-News.
