Midwest recycling plant installs optical sorters

National Recovery Technologies Inc. has installed five optical sorting units to Midwest Exchange Enterprises Inc., a recycler that has expanded into food-grade, post-consumer PET in Gurnee, Ill.

The expansion doubles PET production at the plant, increasing capacity to 9,000 pounds an hour. The five NRT units are a SpydIR Reflective, a SpydIR-T ColorPlus, a SpydIR-T PET and a MetalDirector.
