Starbucks to go plastic in green drink drive

SEATTLE (Jan. 3, 11:10 a.m. ET) — Starbucks Coffee Co. is introducing reusable plastic cups in order to improve its environmental credentials.

The company is offering U.S. and Canadian customers the opportunity to purchase a $1 container, which can be reused. The incentive to go plastic is a 10-cent discount on all following purchases served in your reusable take-out receptacle.

According to the retailer, this will cut back on paper waste.

The plastic cups, which were tested in 600 stores in the U.S. Pacific Northwest, will now be rolled out across the country as well as in Canada.

The cups are made in China.
