Barrette Outdoor Living buys Railing Dynamics

ST-JEAN-SUR-RICHELIEU, QUEBEC (Jan. 4, 12:05 p.m. ET) — Barrette Outdoor Living Inc. has expanded its vinyl profile business by acquiring Railing Dynamics Inc.

“We made this acquisition for the railing business,” explained Catherine Lehtinen, director of telemarketing for Barrette. “We aimed for more market share and their product portfolio.”

Railing Dynamics produces a range of vinyl and metal railings for decks, porches and other applications. It is based in Egg Harbor, N.J., and does its manufacturing in Millville, N.J. Lehtinen said both facilities will continue to operate.

Barrette is headquartered in St.-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec, and runs its U.S. sales and marketing from Cleveland, Ohio. It produces, wood and vinyl fencing, vinyl and aluminum fencing, sheds and railing at plants in Bull’s Gap, Tenn., Flint, Mich. and Pendergrass, Ga. Barrette is privately owned and employs more than 2,000..

Railing Dynamics markets its products from a U.S.-wide network of distributors. It was privately owned. It employs more than 100.Barrette sells to big box retailers like Home Depot, Lowe’s and Menards who in turn sell to distributors.

The combined companies “will bring consumers unparalleled access to the highest quality products and unmatched service within the outdoor living products Industry,” stated Barrette President Jean desAutels in a new release issued Jan. 2 when the deal was finalized.

Neither company disclosed terms of the acquisition or their sales.

Railing Dynamics President Chris Terrels said the two firms are a perfect fit.
