Barrette Outdoor Living Inc. has expanded its vinyl profile business by acquiring Railing Dynamics Inc.

“We made this acquisition for the railing business,” said Barrette telemarketing director Catherine Lehtinen. “We aimed for more market share and their product portfolio.”

Egg Harbor, N.J.-based Railing Dynamics makes vinyl and metal railings for decks, porches and other applications at its manufacturing plant, in Millville, N.J.

Lehtinen said both facilities will continue to operate.

Barrette of St.-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec, runs its U.S. sales and marketing from Cleveland. It produces, vinyl, wood and aluminum fencing, as well as sheds and railing, at plants in Bulls Gap, Tenn.; Flint, Mich.; and Pendergrass, Ga. Barrette is privately owned and employs more than 2,000.

Railing Dynamics, also privately owned, employs more than 100. The firm markets its products from a U.S.-wide network of distributors. Barrette sells to big-box retailers like Home Depot, Lowe’s and Menards, which in turn sell to distributors.

The deal was finalized Jan. 2. Neither company disclosed financial terms of the acquisition or their annual sales.
