HAMBURG, GERMANY (Jan. 10, 12:35 p.m. ET) — Lindal Group, a manufacturer of aerosol packaging components, has opened a new facility in Brazil that is more than double the size of its existing plant.

The new plant, located in Itupeva, will replace the company’s facility in the neighboring city of Jundiai.

Lindal announced plans for the 32,000-square-foot facility in June.

Lindal erected the custom-built, expandable facility to capitalize on rising local consumer spending power. The region has seen an increased demand for personal-care products and, by extension, innovative aerosol packaging, said Mocair Camargo, Lindal Brazil’s managing director, in a news release.

Brazil has seen an overall economic expansion and a rise in disposable income. The Brazilian cosmetics market grew 7.3 percent in 2011, Camargo said.

Lindal’s new plant has more total land space and offers more room for injection molding, assembly, warehousing, maintenance and general operations, offices, labs and service support, according to the release.

The facility will help shorten supply chains and increase return on investment for Lindal’s multinational customers, as well as for contract fillers in South America, according to the release.

Linda Group, based in Hamburg, Germany, designs and manufactures valves, actuators and spray caps for aerosol products. The firm has subsidiaries in more than 15 countries.
