OSAKA, JAPAN (Jan. 15, 11:30 a.m. ET) — Toyo Tire & Rubber Co. Ltd. plans to start manufacturing plastic CV joint boots in Thailand in April 2014.

The Tokyo-based company started making rubber anti-vibration parts in Thailand in December 2011. Now the company has decided to begin manufacturing plastic CV joint boots used for automobile drive shaft joints at a plant in the Amata Nakorn Industrial Estate in Chonburi province.

According to Toyo, car makers are ramping up production in Asia, particularly in Thailand. At the same time, to boost competitiveness, OEMs are aggressively implementing plans to procure parts locally.
