Lucent Polymers has developed a halogen-free masterbatch designed to meet UL2335 and FM4996 standards.
Nubo CB 1000 was developed in response to legislation being introduced to ban decabromine-based flame retardants.
The product is a non-exuding flame retardant concentrate that complies with Europe’s Restrictions on Hazardous Substances guidelines. Tests show the concentrate releases 25 percent less heat than traditional decabrominated systems. It also improves tensile strength without a significant drop in impact properties, according to the Evansville, Ind., company.
Lucent said grades for sheet extrusion and injection molding of high density polyethylene and polypropylene pallets are being offered.
