ASHLAND, OHIO -- Hedstrom Plastics has made another retail products acquisition, buying the assets of Regent Sports Corp., a maker of sporting goods and indoor games.

Hedstrom, a rotational molder based in Ashland, made four acquisitions in 2012. The Regent Sports deal was announced Dec. 19.

Terms were not disclosed.

In the other deals, Hedstrom bought two lines of exercise balls and trash bin rotomolder Nuwave Container LLC.

Ball, Bounce and Sport Inc. does business as Hedstrom Plastics. Regent Sports is in Hauppauge, N.Y.

"This acquisition will allow us to become a major player in the sporting goods channel with exciting, well-established brands and consumer awareness," said Jim Braeunig, president and CEO.

Regent makes a wide range of products such as billiard tables, dartboards, Mitre soccer balls and equipment, MacGregor sports balls, Diamond baseball gloves, ping pong tables and tabletop hockey games.
