WELLINGBOROUGH, ENGLAND -- Scott Bader Co. Ltd. purchased ATC Formulated Polymers Inc., a Burlington, Ontario-based supplier of materials used in composite manufacturing, effective Feb. 4.

ATC makes bonding, tooling, fairing, compression molding and other polyester and vinyl ester-based pastes, largely for North America customers. Terms were not disclosed.

Wellingborough-based Scott Bader said the deal makes it a global leader in the structural adhesives and bonding pastes business.

"I see this as a first step to being able to offer more specialty products into this critical market," said Philip Bruce, Scott Bader's group managing director, in a news release.

Scott Bader Inc. in Stow, Ohio, will continue to sell Scott Bader's Crystic resins and specialty chemicals in the United States.
