MEXICO CITY -- Mexichem SAB de CV, which bought Dutch plastic pipe maker Wavin NV for about $704 million last year, has named a new managing director of the Zwolle, the Netherlands-based company, Maarten Roef, aged 48.

Roef, currently an executive vice president at Wavin, will take over from Henk ten Hove, 60, on May 1. Ten Hove will retire from the company on that date, Mexichem said in a statement on the Mexican Stock Exchange's website.

Roef joined Wavin in 1999 and has been a member of the board of directors since 2010 while managing Wavin Overseas. Prior to those responsibilities he was Wavin's director in the Benelux countries as well as in Scandinavia and Germany.

Ten Dove joined Wavin in 1982 and has been on the board of directors since 1999. He was appointed managing director in 2010 and, according to Wavin, played a major role in expanding the company.

Mexichem completed its purchase of Wavin in May and Ten Hove oversaw the first stage of integration between the two companies. "Mexichem and Ten Hove agree that a new leader should head the next stage, which will focus on achieving growth and greater profit," Mexichem said in its statement.
