FENTON, MICH. -- Creative Foam Corp. has bought an abandoned cinema in Fenton with a view to using the land for expansion in the future.

The cinema and associated property is located directly opposite the company's corporate headquarters. Creative Foam President and CEO David Swallow said the purchase provides "a great opportunity to expand our operation … and possibly bring more jobs when the timing is correct."

The company, which makes cellular and non-cellular foams, including polyurethane, and plastics for the automotive, medical and composite markets, will remove the cinema building and clean up the site. Creative Foam said this will improve the appearance of the local area until the company is ready to expand.

"We are very pleased to increase our investment in the supportive community in this region to help satisfy the needs of a growing customer base," Swallow added in a Feb. 12 news release. The company did not disclose financial details.
