FREDERICA, DEL. -- ILC Dover LP, a designer and manufacturer of engineered fabric and film products, has acquired Grayling Industries Inc., a producer of specialized flexible film products for industrial packaging and environmental safety applications.

Grayling, based in Atlanta, sells intermediate bulk containers and a variety of liners for containers and drums. The company also manufactures products for asbestos abatement, including polyethylene disposable bags, glove bags, enclosures for disposable decontamination showers, spray adhesive and adhesive removing chemicals.

The company operates a 60,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Juarez, Mexico, with more than 40 specialized heat-sealing machines and more than 200 employees. The company has warehouses in Atlanta, El Paso, Texas, and Nijmegen, Holland.

ILC makes products for government and industrial markets, including space suits for NASA, structures for airships and other lighter-than-air vehicles, personal protection equipment, inflatables and containment products.

ILC, based in Frederica, Del., operates out of six buildings – a total of 260,000 square feet of office space.

The acquisition will "strengthen ILC's market-leading position in the global pharmaceutical powder containment market [and allow] Grayling to develop new and exciting solutions for its industrial packaging and asbestos abatement customers," according to a news release.

ILC Dover is a portfolio company of Behrman Capital, a private equity firm based in New York and San Francisco. Grayling will operate as a wholly owned subsidy of ILC.

Chicago-based Blaige & Co. was an exclusive adviser to Grayling.
