ATLANTA -- Recleim LLC, a new appliance and electronic waste recycler, will build its first facility in Graniteville, S.C.

The company will update the former Hickman Mill plant in Aiken County, S.C., and is expected to spend about $40.6 million to establish its operations, according to a news release from South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley.

"Today's announcement is a significant milestone for Aiken County, but more importantly the Graniteville community. Since 2006 we have been working to attract jobs back into this area," Ronnie Young, chairman of Aiken County Council, said in a statement. "We are very appreciative of this $40 million investment and 200 new jobs by Recleim and we are looking forward to partnering with them."

Founded in 2012, Recleim was set up to recycle refrigerators, appliances and electronic waste. The Atlanta-based company says its proprietary recycling processes can recover about 95 percent (by weight) of the commodity components in the appliances it recycles, while safely disposing of hazardous chemicals and minimizing waste and environmental impact.
