Under a licensing agreement with ExxonMobil Chemical Co., RTP Co. is producing Santoprene thermoplastic vulcanizates that bond to nylon.

“We are excited about this opportunity to take over production of ExxonMobil Chemical’s nylon bondable Santoprene TPV products because their addition will expand our bondable (thermoplastic elastomer) product line and give us a definite advantage by having the highest performance materials in the nylon bondable area,” notes Scott Mum, manager of strategic accounts and alliances at RTP of Winona, Minn., in a news release.

RTP is marketing the materials as RTP 6091 series. Hardness ranges from 55 to 85 Share A and the TPVs are available in natural, black and custom colors. RTP claims they have high thermal resistance and chemical resistance and better compression properties than conventional styrene-based nylon bondable TPEs.
