DUBAI, UNITED ARAB EMIRATES — Film manufacturer Applied Extrusion Technologies Inc. is now doing business as Taghleef Industries Inc.

Taghleef Industries LLC, a Dubai-based manufacturer of polypropylene and polyactic acid films, purchased AET last year. The name change is a result of Taghleef integrating AET into its global organization, according to a news release.

The former AET, headquartered in Wilmington, Del., makes specialized biaxially oriented polypropylene films for food, product labeling and non-food applications. The company has plants in Terre Haute, Ind., and Varennes, Quebec.

The Varennes plant will do business as Taghleef Industries Canada Inc.

Taghleef has eight manufacturing sites worldwide — two in North America, three in the Middle East, two in Europe and one in Australia — as well as distribution centers in Germany and the U.S., and a sales office China.

The company said it has more than 794 million pounds of annual BOPP film capacity.
