SPRING MILL, PA. -- The assets of Gettig Technologies Inc. and its associated companies including Stelrema Corp. are being auctioned this month as part of a U.S. Bankruptcy Court Chapter 7 liquidation.
Gettig, which was formed in 1952, had the ability to do everything from design to prototyping, tooling, molding, assembly and packaging. Its family of companies included Gettig Engineering & Manufacturing, Gettig Pharmaceutical Instrument, Stelrema Corp., Beacon Tool Corp. and GPI Aviation Inc.
Spring Mill-based Gettig had stressed its ability to go from "a sketch on a napkin" to mass production.
The company closed at the end of 2012. It cited an inability to maintain large capital investments in a receding economy.
The Branford Group along with Hurley Auctions of Greencastle, Pa., will conduct two online auctions. Equipment slated for sale in Knox and Angola, Ind., include 18 injection molding machines, seven vertical shuttle and insert molding machines and eight rubber molding machines.
"They are clean facilities, well maintained and there is something for everyone in that they manufactured both plastic and rubber," said James Gardner, a partner in the Branford Group LLC, of Branford, Conn.
