MAUMEE, OHIO — Auto supplier Dana Corp. is expanding its capabilities in China, opening a 129,000-square-foot technical center that will allow it to provide a greater range of products in the region.

The Dana China Technical Center in Wuxi will have a test facility and manufacturing space. The site is adjacent to its existing Dana Wuxi Technologies Co. Ltd. venture, the company said in a March 12 news release.

Dana, based in Maumee, Ohio, has plastics within its vehicle sealing and thermal management groups, but is better known for its axles and drive train technologies. The new site in Wuxi will have testing and development space for material technology in the future as well as its existing business within China for off highway vehicle production.

The site will be part of Dana's global research and development operations and will allow the company to, "take a balanced, strategic approach that leverages this engineering expertise to grow business across all market segments" in the region.

The technical center currently employs 50 engineers, but expects to have 130 by 2016, the company said.
