GRAY COURT, S.C. -- ISO Poly Films Inc. has ordered a third blown film line from Hosokawa Alpine American—a three-layer X-Die film line, as the company expands its plant in Vancouver, Wash.

ISO Poly, based in Gray Court, S.C., opened the Vancouver factory last year, with two Alpine lines.

The new three-layer blown film machine will be installed in the next 60 to 90 days, ISO Poly President Jon McClure said in a March 21 telephone interview.

It will be ISO Poly's second X-Die line. The other, a seven-layer Alpine X-Die, was one of the original lines when the operation opened. That seven-layer line makes barrier nylon-based or EVOH (ethylene vinyl alcohol)-based films.

The new line is being installed now and is scheduled to start running in the late first quarter.

The plant runs another Alpine American line, a three-layer system.

Alpine American's patented X-Die eliminates visual port lines in blown film, improving properties and reducing resin costs, according to the machinery company in Natick, Mass.

ISO Poly, a subsidiary of Sigma Plastics Group of Lyndhurst, N.J., opened the plant in Washington state to be closer to its West Coast customers.
