FRANKFORT, KY. -- Japanese auto supplier Hayashi Telempu Co. Ltd. will invest $10.7 million to open its newest facility in North America in Frankfort, Ky.

The plant will employ 103 people and begin operations by September 2014, state officials said in a March 26 news release.

Production will launch with interior carpet, state officials said, but could expand for other parts later. Hayashi Telempu, based in Nagoya, also makes molded interior and exterior auto parts such as sound absorbers, headliners and package trays.

The U.S. subsidiary Hayashi Telempu North America Inc. is based in Plymouth, Mich., and has operations in Ohio, Alabama, Texas and Ontario.
