Absolute Haitian Corp. of Worcester, Mass., offers the Mars II for molders in the United States and Canada, available for delivery in the first quarter of 2013.
Available in clamping forces from 67-4.400 tons, the servo-hydraulic Mars II marks the first major design upgrade for the Mars press, which China-based Ningbo Haitian International Holdings Ltd. rolled out last fall, at the Fakuma show in Germany. Haitian has sold 85,000 Mars presses worldwide.
Mars II presses optimize the kinetics of the toggle system, reducing the dry cycle time by up to 25 percent and offering a more precise and dynamic clamp design. Mars II machines also feature faster plasticizing and recovery rates, the company said.
“The redesign is based on customer feedback Haitian has received and so the results are truly customer-driven,” said Glenn Frohring, president of Absolute Haitian. “The response Haitian received during the product premier at the Fakuma exhibition late last year was very promising.”
In other news, Absolute Haitian molded a medical part on a 101-ton all-electric Venus molding machine at the Plastec West trade show in Anaheim, Calif. The polypropylene part was a component used in an oral appliance for sleep apnea patients.
