Scigrip Americas of Durham, N.C., has developed an improved methacrylate adhesive to bond plastics, composites and metals.
The SG600 series features high tensile strength and high modulus and requires minimal surface preparation. Scigrip designed the adhesive to withstand fatigue and shock load encountered in applications such as parts for trucks, recreational vehicles, buses and railcars. The company claims the adhesive bonds quickly and robustly to boost throughput and productivity.
“The SG600 series adhesives were developed by Scigrip specifically for the transportation industry,” explains the firm’s sales and marketing director Karen Brock Amoah in a news release.
The adhesive has two components that are mixed in a 10:1 ratio. Different grades have working times of five, ten or 20 minutes. They work well with PVC, ABS and other thermoplastics, thermoset composites and coated metal.
