LONDON — Rapak, a maker of bag-in-box packaging and filling systems, has opened a new plant in Chachoengsao, Thailand.
The new facility features clean room environments for bag manufacturing and will make aseptic bag-in-box products. The plant also gives Rapak the chance to reach emerging market segments for bag-in-box products such as quick serve restaurants and food service, said Santi Khunpisitwong, general manager of Rapak Thailand, in a news release.
According to the release, Rapak expects bag-in-box packaging to grow as customers and users become more familiar with its benefits over traditional liquid packaging.
The plant will also allows Rapak customers in Southeast Asia to benefit from reduce lead times, lower inventories and freight costs, according to the release.
Rapak, part of London-based packaging giant DS Smith plc's plastics division, makes a variety of liquid packaging products including bags, boxes, filling machines and dispensing systems.
