LEE'S SUMMIT, MO. — Mold maker and product development group R&D/Leverage has received recognition as an official "Made in the USA" certified company.

The status was confirmed by Made In USA Certified Inc., a Boca Raton, Fla., company that does third-party verification assessments of products and companies seeking to promote their status as U.S.-based businesses. The validation process also surveys a company's supply base.

The certification can help companies compete for work with government agencies which require production within the U.S., Made In USA officials noted.

R&D, based in Lee's Summit, Mo., has in-house industrial design, product development, prototyping and mold making for injection molding, blow molding and PET preform tooling.

The new status for R&D not only recognizes its production, said Robert Schiavone, global marketing director in a May 2 news release, it also shines increased attention on the domestic plastics industry as a whole.

"This is a banner that will help us attract the best and brightest of tomorrow's plastic industry superstars and reignite interest in the U.S. industry amongst some [workers] just entering the workforce," he said.
