CRYSTAL LAKE, ILL. — Caps and closures maker AptarGroup Inc. is investing $50 million to upgrade its plant in Mukwonago, Wis., as part of a multi-year process which will include upgrading production lines.
AptarGroup has already spent $3 million in additional research and development at the plant and another $2 million to increase production capacity at the 290,000-square-foot plant, the Wisconsin Economic Development Corp. said in a May 6 news release.
The company is also in the process of a global software systems improvement, which will allow the Mukwonago plant to coordinate key process information worldwide.
AptarGroup, based in Crystal Lake, Ill., makes dispensing systems used in a variety of packaging.
"Our facility in Mukwonago has continually been an important location for our regional and global business, not only as a manufacturing plant but also as a hub for our research and development activities," said Steve Hagge, president and CEO in a written statement.
During the next three years, AptarGroup will bring new equipment to the plant. The investments will help retain 424 jobs in Mukwonago and makes the company eligible for up to $2.3 million in tax credits, the state said.
