JAKARTA, INDONESIA – Tokyo-based plastics manufacturer Polyplastics Co. Ltd. has established a representative office in Jakarta to take advantage of Japanese manufacturers’ growing expansion into Indonesia.
The Polyplastics group of companies has sales offices in 10 countries, including one in Michigan, trading as Polyplastics USA, Inc. It operates four manufacturing plants and laboratories across Asia. At Jan. 31, Polyplastics employed 1,760 people globally.
Polyplastics manufactures engineering plastics, including acetal copolymer, polybutylene terephthalate, fiberglass-reinforced polyethylene terephthalate, liquid crystal polymer, polyphenylene sulphide, and cyclic olefin copolymer.
The Jakarta office opens June 1. Haruji Murakami is the new Indonesian representative.
A company statement said Indonesia is the “most promising” Asian country in terms of its high economic growth rate, and foreign and domestic demand is expected to grow.
In particular, Japanese automobile and motorcycle manufacturers are moving into Indonesia to expand production to meet domestic demand. Indonesia is expected to play a larger role as a center for parts supply, the company said.
“In view of these circumstances, Polyplastics has established the base in Indonesia to provide support for Japanese and [Indonesian] customers and gather information that will facilitate better customer communication.”
The new office is expected to be instrumental in providing momentum for continued sales expansion in the Indonesian market, the statement said.
