BUTLER, WIS. — Molded Rubber and Plastics Corp. soon will break ground on its first expansion in three decades.

MRPC, a manufacturer of silicone, rubber and thermoplastic components and assemblies for the medical device industry, will hold a groundbreaking event at the company's headquarters in Butler on May 14. According to the company, the expansion will add 15,000 square feet, including cleanroom manufacturing space, office space and employee support space, to the 85,000 square-foot facility.

The 92-year-old manufacturer said the expansion should be completed by the end of November.

The company has experienced growth, especially after acquiring ETI Inc., a Largo, Fla.-based liquid silicone rubber molder one year ago. The company said sales has grown 40 percent and are projected to grow 15 percent more this year.

MPRC employs 120 at its Wisconsin facility and 20 in Largo. It expects to add 20 jobs. The company recently added new machinery to its facility, including equipment for silicone and thermoplastic molding.
