Lubrizol and Trexel partner to promote foamed TPU

WICKLIFFE, OHIO — Lubrizol Corp. has become the preferred TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane) supplier for Trexel Inc.'s MuCell microcellular foaming technology.

The firms say that using MuCell physical foaming technology and Lubrizol's Estane TPU can provide cost-effective, highly elastic microcellular parts for energy absorption and cushioning applications. They add that foamed TPU offers superior compression properties and fast molding cycles. Additionally, Estane microcellular foams can provide a, thin skin layer that adds aesthetic values, as well as the typical advantages of TPU such as outstanding abrasion and cut resistance.

By working together, Lubrizol Engineered Polymers sports and recreation segment and Trexel will be able to help set up a new MuCell molding line, modifying an existing line or suggestions the best grades for the job, said the firms.
