LUDWIGSHAFEN, GERMANY — BASF SE has added to its Ecovio range of compostable and partially bio-based plastic with formulations suitable for thermoforming and injection molding.

"So far, the Ecovio grades that have made their mark on the market are those for the extrusion sector, in other words, for producing films that can then be further processed into bags as well as mulch film," said the company in a statement.

"Since the packaging sector is displaying a growing interest in certified compostable plastics, BASF has augmented its product line by new grades intended for two other significant processing technologies."

T2308 is suitable for thermoforming while IS1335 has been designed for injection molding and both are now available in commercial quantities.
