MILTON, WIS. — Charter NEX Films Inc. is expanding the capacity of its Milton plant, adding two Windmoeller & Hoelscher 3-layer coextrusion blown film lines.
“They are on order and we’re expecting the lines to be in by no later than the first quarter of 2014 — probably one later this year and the second next year,” said Brian Beuning, vice president of sales and marketing for Charter NEX Films, in a telephone interview.
The company was formed in December 2012 when NEX Performance Films merged with Charter Films. The combined companies also have facilities in Superior and Rhinelander, Wis., and Turner Falls, Mass.
Beuning said the company has 28 lines and this will boost its total to 30. Charter NEX officials were impressed with the W&H lines in the Superior plant, which led to the decision to add more in Milton.
He said some work is being done to accommodate the new machines, but they will fit in the existing facility.
“This will substantially increase our capacity,” said Beuning, who did not reveal exact details.
He said that the merger is only about five months along, but that the companies have very similar cultures and they are “coming together.”
Charter NEX make monolayer, coextruded and barrier films for high-performance applications.
