DME invests in new machining equipment

MADISON HEIGHTS, MICH. — Mold-component supplier DME Co. has purchased three new machining systems, and officials plan to buy six more new machines later this year.

DME bought two vertical computer numerically controlled machining centers and a Tarus Gun Drill — a multiple-spindle machine that can handle large plate sizes. The machine tool gives DME more flexibility by simultaneously performing several machining processes.

DMA also is in the process of buying four horizontal CNC machining centers, a new plate saw and a duplex square mill. Those machines will support the manufacturing of mold bases and hot-runner systems at DME factories in Greenville, Mich.; Youngwood, Pa.; and Windsor, Ontario.

"We're excited to be able to bring such a big wave of state-of-the-art machinery to our operation because it will help us continue making a positive impact for our customers," said Doug Miller, DME operations manager.

DME, part of Milacron LLC, is based in Madison Heights.
