Magna International Inc.’s Magna Steyr unit has opened an engineering center in Shenyang, China.

The 1,050-square-meter center eventually will employ more than 100 engineers, and will assist automakers’ vehicle engineering projects.

Steyr is primarily a supplier of metal automotive systems, including body frame components, but the company does use plastics in batteries, fuel systems and roof systems.

Steyr began its operations in China in 2004. Magna International is based in Aurora, Ontario.
