RocTool, the French maker of induction systems to rapidly heat and cool it down quickly with water, is pitching an exclusive worldwide license to the aerospace industry.
That would mark an expansion for RocTool technology, from electronics, automotive and cosmetics industries, into aerospace.
Roctool officials announced they would auction an exclusive license in the form of a single lump-sum payment, valid for the duration of its patents. There will be no royalties.
“This is the first time that RocTool has granted a license that does not rely on royalties,” said Alexandre Guichard, chairman and CEO of Roctool in Le Bourget du Lac, France. “Due to the peculiarities relating to aerospace, such as long time qualification and relatively low volumes, this new license would allow a major aviation company or group top access these highly advanced technologies and therefore obtain a substantial advantage over their competitors.”
Guichard said RocTol technology can warm up molds for composites in less than one minute—a major advance for mold changes in aerospace manufacturing.
RocTool North America is based in Atlanta.
