Total SA’s film business is debuting stronger polyethylene resins in its Lumicene line for flexible packaging.

Lumicene Supertough 22STO5 is aimed at multilayer flexible films, featuring processability, high performance, and 25 percent downgauging potential in industrial, hygiene and food sectors, according to Total. The new, metallocene-catalyzed resin promotes bubble stability and good mechanical properties and is suited to wide-film processing for end-uses such as agriculture, transportation and protection.

“This innovation allows converters to combine one layer of Supertough with the most standard of prime materials and even with regrind from post-consumer waste in the other layers, such that the final film has improved performance with the benefit of cost savings,” states Total business manager of flexible packaging & personal care Sonia De Greef in a news release.

Total SA is based in Courbevoie, France, near Paris, and its petrochemicals unit has a Belgian office.
